Men are SO different from women.

Jt and I attended an all day birth class this weekend.  I was proud of myself for knowing pretty much everything they talked about.  (Thank you, Professor Google, for answering my myriad of questions over the past 8 1/2 months!)  I had to laugh at the naivety and innocence of the first time fathers (most of whom seemed to be over 30 years of age).  One man asked the teacher, "Have there been any studies done on how many contractions on average a woman will feel during labor?  Is it like 100 or 5,000?"

I quickly responded, "No, we don't want to know!  Yea, one contraction down, only 900 more to go?  That's not encouraging." We all laughed and the teacher said she did not know the answer while another first time dad started googling the answer on his iPad and the ladies plugged their ears awaiting a horrible answer.

Leave it to a logical man to reduce labor to NUMBERS!  Seriously, I can't imagine running a marathon knowing exactly how many steps I'll be taking over the course of 26 miles.  How depressing.

My other take away from our class was learning that if I have a c-section, I may not be able to bend over to shave my legs for awhile.  AGH!  Not shave my legs?!  After all the haircuts & beard trims I've given hubby, he may have to learn a new skill. ;)

In less than 12 hours, we'll find out if my placenta previa has resolved itself.  I'm just eager to have an answer.  I want to know if I should emotionally and mentally prepare for a c-section with the upside of meeting our little man a week or two earlier or if I should gear up for a natural, spontaneous birth where he might be a week late.  I'm so thankful for the prayers of so many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Today, at 34 weeks and 2 days, I feel a growing excitement to kiss the little feet that have been kicking the heck out of my uterus and ribs.  And how I pray that His tiny little feet grow to follow after Jesus.  That Romans 10:15 would be true of our little man.  That Cash's feet would carry the good news of Christ's death & resurrection.

"And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

I never expected his loch-ness-monster-like movements to be so incredibly strong and somewhere between really uncomfortable and painful.   Braxton-Hicks contractions occur daily and new aches and pains abound - much earlier than I had expected too.  I think I shall put myself on semi-bed rest soon.  Oh, and I had such a beautiful baby shower last weekend.  I'll have to post pictures soon.  We are so thankful for generous friends and family who share in our joy!
